My garage fridge is running but isn't cooling like it should. Could it just need coolant recharge? Is that something I can do myself? Thanks.

I recently defrosted it, but had noticed before that it was losing cooling ability

Ok, everything is clean. Compressor is hot, not too surprising. No fan on this unit so it can't be broken. Still running, sounds pretty normal, no clicking sounds like it is resetting itself. Are we down to freon leak?

Hello. My name is Richie. I am a 26 year electrician and a home improvement expert. I will help you the best I can. When you are comparing refrigerators, or determining the size of the refrigerator, it's the interior volume that counts. The capacity of a refrigerator can be determined if it is not clearly marked on the unit or the manual by measuring the cubic feet. The most accurate way to accomplish this is with an empty refrigerator, and by making your initial measurements in inches. From there, you can quickly convert the dimensions to a more standard cubic foot measure, after doing the appropriate volume calculation. Cubic feet in regards to appliance sizing is confusing. Look at the size of your old one, it should be marked on a label on the front inside door jamb or look it up on the net. Good luck and God Bless. Jesus Christ loves you.

first check the freezer...is it full of ice??????? if so... unplug the fridge, thaw it completely with a hair dryer, open the back and all the shields, make sure the "drain hole" is thawed. then look for a small "button" clipped to the "radiator " looking part of the freezer...it should have a pink wire to it,clip the two wires to the button(clip them CLOSE to the button) and remove the button!!! this is your bi-metal defroster!!! most appliance shops will carry it and an after market part is fine!!!! just wire it back in same to same and connect the wirres w/wire nuts(usually orage ones) and reassemble your freezer!!! this should solve your problem and is very very easy to do

Try cleaning the coils underneath, make sure the fan is running and not clogged up. It might be cheaper to get a new one unless its still in warranty.

clean the condenser coils out underneath so it can breathe correctly

otherwise it may have developed a pin hole leak leaking refrigerant

you did not say what area your in, but i would put a fan blowing on the evaperation coils, if its warm or hot where it is at, it can,t get rid of the heat.

No need to guess when you can just go to http://appliancequickfix.com/ and they will tell you step by step what to check. Could be something simple or something beyond your capability, but find out first what it is.
