It's always different. I remember my mom was pregnant with my 6 year old brother. She gained about 80 pounds. And with her recent pregnancy she only gained about 40. SO it's always different.

I am 29 weeks. At 27 weeks I had gained 2 stone.
I started off 8 stone 10 pounds.
According to the books I have already gained too much, as most of the weight gain is yet to come!
However, I have been eating healthily and I'm wearing the same size clothes (maternity cut obviously!) so I'm not worried.
All these charts and averages are not going to influence whether my baby is healthy or not so I'm just letting nature do its thing! When I feel hungry, I eat!

I thought the average for women now a days to gain is 25-35 pounds, and that is based on the woman being at her 'ideal body weight' prior to getting pregnant. I am pregnant with my 3rd child and with my first, it was ideal!! I gained 20 lbs total, my 2nd baby was a nightmare :/ I gained 60 pounds :( and now I am 30 weeks pregnant, and have gained 18lbs so far. I have been very conscience of my weight gain, and was Not at 'ideal' weight before getting pregnant. All in all, as long as it's not OUTrageous gain, then just enjoy your pregnancy, and buckle down after the baby is born.

If you were of average weight before pregnancy, you should gain 25-35 pounds (if you are having one baby). If you are having twins, this is about 50 pounds. If you were underweight before pregnancy, your doctor would want you to gain more. If you were overweight before pregnancy, your doctor would want you to gain less.

You might have a lot of water gain right now if you have a lot of swelling. At 31 weeks, I had gained 19 pounds. I am now 35 weeks and my weight gain is now 9 pounds. My swelling has gone down a lot since I have been admitted to the hospital and can have my feet up a lot of the day instead of down working all day. I still have some swelling, but not as much.

It depends on how much you weighed before you got pregnant....if you are overweight you don't have to gain but 15-25 lbs (some overweight mother's don't have to even gain that much)

if you were normal (average) weight they want you to gain the 25-35 lbs over your pregnancy

if you were underweight to start out with you can easily gain 35-45 lbs during your pregnancy.

good luck, and remember that these are just guidlines...just make sure you get all your nutrients and vitamins and no matter how much you gain your baby should be healthy...because a lot of women gain "too" much, don't stress about it, you can always lose it after you have the baby!!

Pre pregnancy i was 140lb, by my 7months i was 172lb which i was told was fine. We then moved house and i lost 7lb just by being busy and things preparing the house.

I gave birth 3 days early to a healthy 8lb 5oz boy and came out of the hospital weighing 154lb

By the time my son was 3months old i was back to 140lb. I then went on to lose another 14lb without effort. So i wouldnt worry about the weight you gain. As long as baby is healthy and happy. You cn work it off after. When you have a new baby, as tired as you are, nothings more exciting then getting out for a walk with the pram and showing the new addition off. In all the excitement of being a proud new mum, you walk off the weight with no effort what so ever.

Good luck

if you are under weight they say between 35-45 pounds
if you are average they say no more than 25-30 pounds and if you are over weight they say no more than15-20 pounds.

i was average (5'4 127 pounds) i ended up weighing 197 the day i went in for delivery. so in other words that is 70 pounds!!!!
they never really said much to me though..
it all came on at the end too....

i hope you didnt gain that much...
its hard to get off after you deliver.
i am now at 155..... and its been 1 yr

While weight gain differs with every woman and every pregnancy, for a woman of 'average' size, then it is generally expected that she gain between twenty and thirty pounds.
Some women, however, gain much more, while others gain much less.

I'm of the 'larger size' category, and at thirty six weeks I weigh ten pounds less then what I weighed before I was pregnant.

I am 38 weeks pregnant and I had gained 17 pounds as of last Friday. The doctors said that is completely normal. :)

Oh and prepregnancy is was 151. And I am not overweight at all. So I dont know what your case is, but like everyone has said, every pregnancy is different! :)

I lost over a stone at the start, went down to under 7st, then slowly put the weight back on and only put on 10lbs from my normal weight.
But everyones different, my sister who was only a wee bit bigger than me put on 4 st and 3 st with her second. I think the weight issue is only a guide line ans shouldn't be taken too seriously, in my opinion it's a work in progress and you can always do something about ti after the baby's born.
