I was thinking of buying a hot-fudge sundae and splitting it with her and I would hide the ring on the bottom of the sundae. I would then eat the last bite, and when she's not expecting it, I would take the ring out of my mouth and put it on her finger and propose to her. Do you guys think she'll find this cute?

Take her to a new development in a nice area that you guys could afford. Bring her on to one of the spots of dirt that hasn't had broken ground yet but is leveled with dirt. Start talking about how you've been looking in to the development and you think it's a great place in a great neighbourhood. Talk about how great of an investment it is for you (just you) to flip and how excited you are. Then when you're ready say something like "i've figured it out and if I cut back on a few things and move some investments around I should still have enough to put a down payment on it after the reception" and she'll say "reception?" and then you stop, turn around, smile, and get down on one knee or whatever you want.

A little too cute and sticky and messy kind of for my taste.
I like the idea of it being on top of the sundae better, you know like the 'cherry on top'. That is cute and clever in my view.
Arrange for her to sit down while you get the order of ice cream --one for each of you -- bring it to the table and set it in front of her - it will take her a momet to figure out and I bet you will get a great reaction. Make sure yours does have a cherry on top, so she makes the connection that hers has instead... lol.
Either way, it's fun you are putting some thought into it. Hope it goes smashingly well.

Instead...try to slip the ring on the spoon she's using. Just a thought. Women love to see rings sparkle for the first time.

It's a very good idea don't worry about it being sticky she will run to the bathroom to wash it off and to look at it on her own.Don't let anyone talk you out of it,20 years down the road your kids will love hearing that story.

Yes I think that would be cute. Anytime a guy puts that much thought in doing something special for his girl it will have a good outcome, if his heart was in it. Personally I love it when my husband does those kind of things for me.
