...i really hated the "because i said so" response, and didn't use it on my own kids as they grew up. (it sounds idiotic at best) the go ask your other parent thing didn't happen when i was a kid, our father was the decision maker. but i used it a lot when our kids were younger!! :)

hahaha. my parents split up when i was about 6. but it is histerical that you ask that because *I* say "BECAUSE I SAID SO!" on a daily basis. i say it at least 20 times a day to my 3 kids. and when my husband is home i always send the kids to him so he can give them an answer and then he sends them right back to me lol.

It teaches children to adhere to (what may seem like to them at the time) ridiculous demands.
Children are then able to use these demanding skills themselves later on in life.
