anyways do you think these people should be rewarded equally for their hard work?

J: She is a young woman from a big city who is a successful businesswoman working for a public relations company and she is a wealthy businesswoman, she owns a condo overlooking a huge lake and she owns lots of nice clothes, gets to go on nice vacations, owns lots of nice furniture, owns a nice sporty car w/leather interior and she gets to attend to alot of rock concerts.

D: He is a young man from a small town who is an employee at a department store and he has been at his job for 8 years and he only makes $8.50 an hour, he is one of the most dependable employees Shopko has ever had and he is very kind and helpful towards his customers and his co-workers and he gets along well with everybody, plus he has a learning disability, he doesn't have a car and he still lives at home with his parents.

Also which rewards do you like better?

Also D doesn't have a college degree and he thinks that his hard work at Shopko should provide him a good career job.

yes they both should be rewarded...but who is doing the rewarding? thier companies i suppose. i expect the "reward" will be relative to the profit they directly or indirectly provide thier employer. sounds like they are both hard workers.however, the businesswoman probably worked her way up the corporate ladder, probably working for several companies and making geographical moves as well. her performance is likely monitored very closely, and while she enjoys "wealth"...she very likely pays a high price .stiff competition and corporate BS probably give her perpetual stress.
punch a clock, and when you go home, you can more readily forget about work. a bit of a trade off..wouldnt you say?

Yes I do feel that both J and D deserves to be equally rewarded for their hard work and I think they should both get the same rewards such as a nice house/condo, a nice luxury car, go on nice vacations, own lots of nice coats and lots of nice stereo equipment, I currently work in the same kind of job that D has and I can very well relate to D, I don't plan on staying in retail forever either.

One thing what D gets rewarded with is that he gets to relax more often than J does and I guess that is a big tradeoff there.

There is a difference in value of the work being performed. J is much more specialized and D is a lot more expendable. It takes a lot less training to do D's work. I'm sorry this isn't the information you wanted to hear but this is one example of why D should be paid a lot more.

BTW, 200 years ago, it's very likely that J would've been burned at the stake for being so independent and aggressive and D probably wouldn't live to see his 30th birthday besides being banished to a mental institution during his life. Capitalism allows for both situations above and you want to destroy it. You can't stand to see a disparity in success so you want to prevent anybody from being successful. I strongly recommend you read or take a class in basic economics. This is a social issue that needs scientific understanding.

It depends on their personality. Some people like big celebrations that put them in the spotlight. Others prefer a quiet thank you card. I think that a % of their salary is due for a job well done. Obviously the dollar amount will not be equivilant.

No, different people in different types of jobs get different rewards from their companies. There are alot of variables on rewards....such as:

1. what are you rewarding?
2. what is the company policy?
3. what is the education level of each person?
4. how many hours do they work?
5. how much do they actually contribute to the company and it's bottom line?

it sounds like the wealthier is already being rewarded for her hard work, and the male is being made to feel replaceable instead of getting rewarded for contributing to the owner of the companies fat pockets....without the employee, there would be no big corporation....he should be getting more for his time and effort
