I applied SUPERthrive to my Venus fly-trap and then the traps began to curl and now the traps wont even close when the trigger hairs are stimulated.

The leaves are young so it isnt because they have closed too much. I already understand that each leaf has a limit in closing.

I also noticed that on some of the younger leaves, the base of the trigger hairs are brown.

SUPERthrive isnt a fertilizer and doesnt supply the plant with nutrients. I understand how the plant doesnt like rich soil.

Never give fertilizer to a carnivorous plant!.... Try re-potting it in barren soil and leave it alone. Also they are native of North Carolina and need to go dormant for a while. so, it could be that it just needs a dormancy. They usually tend to do this near fall and people think they killed it and throw it away. Not the case. Just put it aside, mist it every now and then and in the spring set it in a sunny warm window and water it. it will come back..... GOOD LUCK...

Woah! Rooky mistake.
Fertilisers are poison to carnivorous plants. They trap insects because they have evolved to live in areas with very nutrient-poor soils. This means they can't survive in a normal soil, let alone a fertile one.

Tap-water is also poisonous to fly-traps.

They need an acidic soil such as peat.

It is very bad for them to have their traps set off all the time. If you prod them to make them snap that makes them ill.

Your folly was not reading up but you wouldn't be the first. A lot of people don't realise how difficult it is to grow these plants

Venus fly traps do not need fertilizers - they naturally live in bog like environments so they thrive in really poor conditions. So if this one makes it(survives), don't give it any more fertilizers. Try to flush all the fertilizers out with rain water(traps don't like tap water).

It is normal for the bigger traps to die eventually.

Make sure that you keep it moist at all times. Put it in a tray with about half an inch of water.

OOH, so sorry. Yea, NO fertilizers or nutritious soil for that matter. Just 50/50 peat and perlite. They get all the nourishment they need from the insects.
Here are two "How Too" videos that will get you started on the right track if you are willing to try again. "Never give up, Never surrender" I heard that somewhere.
Here you go. Enjoy
