Do babies have gas inside the womb?

How did you know they were hiccups? Just wondering!

lmao well no, they wouldnt have gas. Gas is created by swallowing air, or byproducts of digestion...

only thing babies gets is amniotic fluid

so I think its safe to say that no, baby doesnt get gas while still in the womb..

Edit: contrary to what someone up there said about baby pooping and peeing in the womb...yes they pee, they however DO NOT poop...pooping in the womb (meconium) would mean baby is in distress.

i have heard that babies do have gas and hiccup in the womb but all though I am in my second pregnancy I still don't know how to tell the difference between gas, hiccupping.

No, they don't have gas inside the womb... When they hiccup, they are "breathing" in amniotic fluid... It feels like little spasms in your belly... And yes, they do pass urine inside, because they are swallowing amniotic fluid.. they don't pass bowel movements, unless something is wrong.. it is not normal for them to though...

I think they can because they poop and pee inside the womb, they definately have hiccups which means they have some sort of air situation

My daughter used to get hiccups like crazy, i could press my tummy against my husbands back when he was sleeping and he'd wake up feelign her hiccups.

that is a really good question. I guess i would assume that we pass the gas for them. That would certainly explain why i have so much more gas now!

I think because there is often a lot of air circulating in the body through oxyhaemoglobin it is likely that the baby gets a lot of air or atleast enough.

i dont know but i know they get the hiccups my son had the alot when i was pregnant with him

l really don't know but l used to feel something that l thought was maybe a finger or toe pushing against me for just like a half second.
