I`m really upset about this news . It happened close to my home .How tragic for this family that a young football mad lad goes off to play footie and is shot dead in the street on his way home. It`s absolutely incomprehensible.

What have we come to?
What can be done to stop it?
How easy is it to get hold of guns?
How can we get rid of them?

Goodnight and godbless little Rhys.

1) The end of the line.
2) Zero tolerance.One strike ,you're out.
3) Too easy.
4) Huge rewards for dobbing in illegal firearm owners.

We owe it to little Rhys.

I am feeling very sad about this also.
Anyone can hire a gun for 50 pounds apparently.
I hate to say this but a lack of good parenting has got to have something to do with the rise in gun and knife crime, and vandalism.
A good parent knows where their child is at all times, we can't blaim society or peer pressure, I am the boss in my house and what I say goes, always.
I have managed to raise 2 children virtually on my own (battered wife), they are both still at home so I must have done something right. The rule now is "You live under my roof, you abide by the house rules, if you don't like it, move out".
I think street violence is going to get worse before it gets better, and the innocent will suffer. We have a Police Force that is seriously under strength , but watch out if you break the speed limit, it is all to do with figures and statistics. This country is taking in refugees from anywhere, illegal immigrants are everywhere and committing crimes on their way up and down the country.
I have no easy answer, all I can do is to make sure my family is as safe as I can possibly make it and ensure that no crime is committed from this house, perhaps every family should try this.

Do you think this will help? We've had strict gun laws in this country for a long time. After Dunblane, they were tightened up - with the result that the firearms companies no longer had a legal outlet for handguns in this country. So they sell them into the grey market from where they make their way into the hands of criminals and children. Imposing tougher penalties on those found in possession will mean they are more likely to use their guns to avoid arrest.

This news has upset me deeply too. The area is not too far from us and I have a footy mad boy of the same age. I can't understand how anyone could hurt a young child. Seeing this boy in his football shirt is so upsetting. My heart goes out to him and his family, it is tragic and I really hope the law comes down heavily on the people responsible.

i totally agree with you it is so sad, and so tragic. i feel very much for his family, i have a 10yr old son myself, i would be devastated. I just want to know how these kids get hold of these guns, the person that gave that gun to that child has blood on their hands too! its just such a shame that it takes something like this to highlight the fact that something is terribly wrong with the goverment. they should have been doing somethink about it ages ago, instead they wait for some one to die before they came up with a plan! Its
just so wrong and very unfair! my thoughts are with ryhs jones and his family right now.

Have you been following he case of Jessie James here in Manchester? It's terrible - he was shot because he didn't want to join a gang.

And, two of the biggest gun criminals here (who were released early from jail for gun-related crimes) have just been recaught after a lot of shooting.

I have no idea what can be done. It' s terrible. Guns are just plain bad news! (bad news which is a regular occurence here in Mcr...)

Robert C, there is always one case that is the final straw, i hope this is it. I watched the parents interview, what Can i say? It was heartbreaking.
Society needs to have a discussion on what has happened to the morality of this country, and the politicians need to listen.
