Our children's toys are painted with lead paint, our toothpaste has toxic chemicals in it, and our dog food is contaminated with deadly ingredients. There is evidence of abuse within the manufacturing companies and it isn't good for our economy. I get frustrated that it is getting impossible to buy things that say made in America. To be honest I wouldn't mind buying products made in countries that I know have strict laws about safety and worker's rights.

The Chinese are killing our pets, poisoning our children, and selling us defective products. Besides that, they are stealing billions of dollars a year from American companies through piracy and making knock-offs of designer goods. Check out the links below for stories about too much formaldehyde in Chinese-made clothes and blankets.

So vote with your feet!

Transparency is not first on China's policy agenda, that's for sure. Consider China's role as a Third Party (sort of an advocate) against the U.S. in the Cross-Border Betting dispute btwn U.S. and Antigua, yet China precludes remote services in its OWN market: (see China's one-eye-open, one-eye-shut gambling laws http://www.pokerpulse.com/legal/viewtopic.php?p=405#405 which are different in Macau and again, in Hong Kong! Makes predictions very uncertain to say the least.

It's important to note, though, that consumers have tremendous power to tell China what's important by NOT BUYING their stuff until you're satisfied it meets with proper safety standards. China has set itself a challenging growth agenda and will likely do what it takes to meet its goals, including satisfying its U.S. customers.
