I have a history assingment and one of the things the teacher asked us to do was compare a set of dates to another similar date in history. One of them is, I need to find a date similar to the battle of Antietam, I cannot think of any. Anyone got ideas?

Try June 1 1916.

The first day of the Battle of the Somme. The British army sustained almost 60,000 casualties - 20,000 fatalities - the worst day in British military history.

The Battle of Antietam (also known as the Battle of Sharpsburg, particularly in the South), fought on September 17, 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland, and Antietam Creek, as part of the Maryland Campaign, was the first major battle in the American Civil War to take place on Northern soil. It was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history, with almost 23,000 casualties.[1]

Explore Wikipedia a little bit because I think they have a timeline feature if you type in the year of when Antiedam occurred.

If not, then go to your local library and do some research.
