Okay, so here's the deal.

My boss and I have to write text that goes on a major website. He had pitched the idea of using the phrase "just desserts," but I had no idea what it meant (I had never heard of the term before in my life).

I began taking a poll with coworkers, and it seemed that slightly more people knew what it meant than didn't. At first, I guessed it was an age thing/phrase used at an earlier time (I am 24, my boss is mid-thirties), but then figured it might be a regional thing (I'm from Texas, he's lived in California for over 10 years).

So answer me this question: Have you heard the term "just desserts," and if you have, where did you hear it, where are you from, and how old are you?

Thanks!

Oh also, if you haven't heard it, please speak up!
My boss thinks I am a complete moron for not knowing this.

Thx!

I am 79 and very familar w/ the phase. When used, such as, "He's getting his JUST DESSERTS, it means he's getting what he had coming, or, He asked for it. Hope this helps, Coy K.

I've heard of this idiom. It basically means to be given something for some kind of action (good/bad).

I heard it as a child. I'm from Fresno, CA and 22 years of age.
