teddybear - read the questions they are asking!!! The answers are right in their book, just like it was in my book when I took government class. These kids are freaking LAZY!

pachl - I try to do just that once in a while, though I usually make it plain that they should READ THE FREAKING BOOK instead of asking for the answer. If they asked questions the answers to which were not obviously in their book it would be different, but they don't.

Yes, of course they are. They're part of the instant gratification crowd. They want everything easy. Maximum fun without the work.
So, let's teach these little dilettantes a lesson. Let's answer their questions.......... incorrectly. We're clever enough to mask our fraudulent answers in a convincing shell of legitimacy. They'll fall hook, line and sinker for it.
When they get their papers back, marked with a big "D" or "F", they'll learn there is no shortcut to learning.
P.S. Did you know that Benjamin Franklin wrote the Declaration of Independence while he was on leave from his post as ambassador to Rome?

Last night, I was reading the performance report, issued by our school district, and some of those kids are beyond help. This is a big district and thousands of kids, in too-crowded classrooms, are failing in the most important subjects. If parents don't get back to motivating these kids, and if teachers can't get back to reasonable discipline, future generations are not going to be prepared to take care of themselves. Competition from good students will leave them in the dust...in poverty, or a world of crime.

Just don't get in the habit of writing an essay when you
answer. Make them read several answers and learn.

You should never consider it pestering if a child comes to you for help with homework, what is your problem are you afraid because you cannot help the child and are to afraid to show that you are covering up your stupidity, you should be thankful that your child is doing there homework and wants to learn. what a fantastic mentor you make!
