I don't need my own domain name, because i know those cost money. just any way to get my own page. (not a blog like myspace, though).
ex: www.myname.(host).com or something

learn HTML and CSS, write up a page in an editor like jEdit (www.jedit.org), and then buy a domain name and find a cheap hosting provider, usually less than $10 a year for the domain name.
No website is free unless you use some company's domain name/other restrictions.

Just to give you a Heads Up.
There is NOTHING FREE.
There are sites availble that will allow you to design a Page, or a full Blown Web Site,
But the catch is to get it on the Internet you must also have a Domain Name, Not Free
You must have a Web Host, Not Free either.
Many users just assume you can make a web site and put it on the Internet, This in not true.
Yahoo's Geocities Offer all Web development services.
They will do a search for a Domain Name and you are charged every year to maintain and keep that Domain name.
2nd They offer you a Web Hosting service and this allows you to store and they host your site, So much money every month.
They do offer there Software as a service Free when you use them to Design and be the System Administrator so you can make any changes at will. Go have a look.

Hi,
I totally understand what you want. The truth is however options are a part of the package. Sites like myspace and others all are blogg based. Thats there purpose, to provide anything else would be classified as design and content management which is basically web design and you would have to be charged money. only blogg sites are free! because host get to make money off of them.
As far as not wanting to download anything I'm afraid you are going to have to. A website is nothing more than source code (html, etc) and content (pics, movies, etc) filed away in sub folders all withing one master folder. In order to launch that site on the web you'll have to have all those files in that folder placed onto a server using some kind of file transfer procedure. If you go online to a site that builds a website for you all it will do is generate code and you'll have to find the content yourself. then it puts all that stuff into a folder and ask you to pay to download it. My suggestion for you is to find someone who knows how to design a website and have them build it for you and have them find a free hosting service and launch it. Theres usually the kid down the street whose pretty tech savvy or I'm availabe. I can give you consultation and help a little. If I was to build it for you I'd def charge you somethign unfortunately. lots of people are going to want to charge you because they had to take the time to learn how to design and they want that knowledge and time spent to be worth something. I'm not expesive, I can build you a simple site under $10 bucks. I build simple sites for people to help pay for text books on the side. if you're interested you can e-mail me at saiyan37@yahoo.com or hit me up under the yahoo messenger.

Have you tried MySpace.com? It can be customised any way you like and you can insert your own HTML. Or there's a LOT of presets all over to choose from. It's not for retail stuff, like if you want to sell something but it's a pretty easy, free way to have your own page.
