There are a lot of rentals in the surrounding areas of Lynnwood. You can check craigslist, the Little Nickel, and the newspapers (Seattle Times, PI, the Stranger, and Seattle Weekly). I think it's good to drive around/walk around the areas and you can find a lot of places that have their "Now Leasing" signs up that may not be advertising in the papers.

You should go into a grocery store and pick up the For Rent magazine. It's very thick (and free) and lists all sorts of apartments in Lynnwood and other nearby cities. It gives you a ton of choices, and there are also websites to most of the apartments listed (through For Rent), meaning you can get even more information online. That's how I found my apartment recently.
In Lynnwood, I really like Alderwood Heights and Canyon Springs. I think Keeler's Corner (I think that's what it's called) is nice too, but probably a bit more expensive.

I agree with Karin, get For Rent magazine.
We have stayed with a couple different Archstone properties, but doesn't look like they are in Lynnwood, but Bothell is right next to Lynnwood. http://www.archstoneapartments.com/
Keeler's Corner are the only decent ones on Highway 99. Near Alderwood Mall there are also a number of decent places and that is a better part of Lynnwood. *cough*
You might also look at Mountlake Terrace, just south of Lynnwood.

Whatever you do, don't rent an apartment at Sunrise South or Olympic West apartments. HORRIBLE apartments, and even worse managers. Renaissance apartments are NASTY with a capital N. A lot of druggies, ans skanky losers live there.
