In Your First year of uni, pretty much every university in the UK teaches the same topics.
Compulsary ones are;
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Mathematics for Economics
Statistics for Economics
Your university has to teach those in the 1st year at university, it is standard across the board, and most likely you will be reading from
David Begg - Economics
Ian Jaqcues - Mathematics for Economics
and another stats book.
Some Universities offer you more modules, like introduction to accountancy or the financial markets.
The above is based on a BA/BSc Economics only degree course.
Hope you find it useful.

An Economics degree can cover a wide range of inter related subjects. I found the first year generally repeated what I was taught during the two years studied at A Level. This may not be the case, but I found it involved the essential economic theories. Lots of diagrams! You may encounter similar subjects such as Business, Politics, Computer Science or Accounting. The good thing about Economics is that you are given a number of modules to choose from - you can generally decide the structure of your degree as you progress. Good luck.

All you need to remember about economics, is that when Adam Smith wrote his book (was it Wealth of nations?) capitalism was in a state of permanent expansion. Capitalism can only work when it is expanding, otherwise markets stagnate. Well, capitalism has now consumed everything and the only way that expansion can occur is after a war, of which there will be more, that I guarantee. Perhaps, if you can see through what you are taught and look at what is really happening in the world, you may even consider that this wonderful society might be flawed. You may even come to the same conclusion as I have, that the 'ONLY' thing that matters in this society is the accumulation of wealth.
Who knows. when one person owns everything and 6 billion are struggling to live, people might even think that a change could be called for. Consider economics from all perspectives.

So you got on a course that you didnt really look into? Ok.
When you apply through UCAS it gives a breakdown of the course so you know its exactly what you want.
Phone up the Uni and ask them. No two courses are alike, not even two economics courses.
