At one point in Jared Hutchins' young life, the Beatles were a big problem.

"I had to stop listening to them for a while," said Hutchins, who lives in Cumming, Georgia, and plays the piano, guitar and harmonica. He said the group's world view "had a negative effect on me," and made him irritable and angry.

I'm surprised that he claims that the Beatles had a negative effect on him, yet Pink Floyd hasn't. I love Pink Floyd, but you have to admit that some of their stuff is pretty dark. Not only that, but the song "Pigs" sort of deals with people like Jared Hutchins. For example, they refer to Mary Whitehouse, who was an activist who sought to enforce her own brand of Christian morals on the broadcast media in the UK. I bet Jared doesn't know that, though.:)

No, I think the Conservative worst nightmare would be watching Brit Hume on Fox News in November 2008 say with a sullen face "Well it's official. The Barack Obama is now the President elect with 298 electoral votes..."

But the Beatles are a constant pain to them all the same.

I would think they were a little more freaked out about Marilyn Manson than the Beatles. Here's a funny story:

Someone I know was at a holiday family get together when one of his conservative, bible thumpin' cousins asked him if he and his girl friend wanted to ride with him down to a Marilyn Manson concert for a protest. His response was "Sure, that would be great! Will you wait for us until the concert is over? We've got tickets..."

Hardly. The current issue of National Review has a glowing article about Paul, and notes John's shortcomings and late-in-life conversion to the "domestic" lifestyle.

And "Taxman" was voted one of the best conservative songs of all time.
