Forgive the repetition of the above answers, however, just for the sake of confirmation .... NO.

I've been using such a drive for years & have yet to try any actual "lightscribe" media on it.

No. Any format supported by the disc can be used. A lightscribe disc is the exact same as every other type of DVD except the top has a very thin silk-like coating that is reactive to the laser that lets is 'scribe' the image and words.

nope, you can use all types of disks it supports (like dvd-r)


the only difference between a normal disk and a lightscribe disk is the top, the top of a lightscribe disk react to a type of laser that puts the images on it.

Nope,

You can use any media so long as you don't expect to do the Lightscribing.
