I'm taking this question to mean 9/7 + -2 and 3/14, not -23/14

Ok, you need to find the common denomonator. Since 7 goes into 14 evenly, and 3/14 is already 14, it will be easy to just make them both 14.

9/7 x 2/2 = 18/14
So now your question is 18/14 + -2 3/14

It's easier to change your complex fraction (-2 3/14) into an improper fraction. In this case, 14/14 = 1, so 28/14 = 2. Make it negative, since your original number is negative. Now add the additional 3/14. Now you have - 31/14

Your final question is now

18/14 + -31/14

Anything plus a negative number is the same as subracting the second number.

So 18/14 - 31/14 =
-13/14

Which is your answer.,

Hope that helps

Use the slash key to denote fractions. Use parentheses to make it clear.

Is it 9/7 + -23/14, or is it 9/7 + -(2)(3/14)?

This is really simple. Just find the least common denominator, then add the numbers.

Remember that adding a negative is the same as subtracting.

So 5 + -3 = 5-3 = 2.

Ok I'll show you this time and explain it to you:

9/7 + -23/14 =? correct since addition you have to get a common denominator first thing. ok can't reduce -23/14 any more can we? so we are going to have to work with 9/7
Looking at it we see that 7 X 2 will equal 14 correct:
in this case we multiply both 9 and 7 by 2:

9*2 = 18
7* 2 = 14
Next step write them in fraction form
18/14 denominator now same as denominator in -23/14.
In other words we now have a common denominator so we can add or subtract as needed correct?

18/14 + - 23/14 =?
Now you need to review the laws of signed numbers and get them in you head good or you are going to be dead in the water:

Next step: since 14 is the common denominator we can rewrite the problem:

18 + -23
------------
.....14
that makes it easier to see when working with signed numbers:

18 + -23 Now your 23 is a negative number and your 18 is a positive number: Keep in mind when sign is not shown it is a positive number:
When adding numbers with unlike signs you take the difference of the two numbers and use the sign of the number with the highest absolute value.

18 + -23 take difference (subtract) - 5
-----------
.....14
so answer is:

- 5
---
14

or written in shilling fraction form - 5/14
hope that helped:

I will advice you start loving MATHS,it may change your life.
Now 9/7 +(-2)(3/14)
or 9/7 -31/14
or 18/14-31/14(multiplyiny & dividing the 1st no.by 2)
or-13/14 ans
But if you mean 9/7+(-23/14)
or 9/7-23/14
or 18/14-23/14

I would have helped... but you hate math so I wont. The reason why you suck and arent trying IS because you hate it. You have chosen not to be interested and not to give it your time.
