Remember earlier in the year when Tiger fans were ripping the Yankees for under-performing, saying the Yankees would not make the playoffs. Well... I think it is almost time for the Yankees to invite the Tigers to whatever bars they are watching the playoffs at because Detroit, they are not going anywhere!

Yeah it seems like both teams have switched directions as the Yankees are going North in the standings and Tigers are slowly going South. Still is going to be a tight race but Sheffield getting hurt will absolutely kill the Tigers.

I agree that the tigers are slumping, but everyone believes that they will be able to beat cleveland and make the playoffs. The Yankees slump in the beginning almost every year and everyone always says there out of it. I am not surprised to see that the injury bug destroyed us so far this year after nothing last season.

J are you becoming a little Georgiesk? I'm beginning to think that you two are like the Odd Couple or something like that....lmao... I agree with the basic premise but its far too early to count anyone out including the Twins. All it takes is to get hot in September and the fortunes change for many a team. The Yankees have looked good of late as long as the stay out of Anaheim - Yikes. I'm not to worry going into Tigerland because they're reeling now and we may have caught them by the tail so to speak.......lol.....

Although My beloved Noys are in a minor slump, they are only 2 1/2 games out of 1st place. I still believe The Tigers win the Central; because WE ALL KNOW Cleveland will collapse aka 2005 style.

The Tigers problem is they are falling further back, but they need Cleveland to fall apart slightly. They are not the Cubs so you can't rely on that to happen. I would not be surprised to see the Tigers miss the playoffs this year. That makes last year a fluke.

It's still August - I don't think either team should be celebrating right now.
