I spend about 3600 a year for a family of 4. I use coupons, buy generic on somethings, and use coupons. 2 to 3% isn't that great but its better than nothing.

Less than $100 a month.

So less than $1,200 a year.

Don't buy what you can't eat or cook in time. If you can afford to store it, buy more to save later, always look at coupons, shop around.

2-3% savings isn't enough for me, but it's a lot better than most people can do, so anything is something, keep working on it.

My family spends about $2,400-$2600 a year. This is for a family of 5. a 2-3% savings would not be much of a savings for me. I shop for meat on sale, buy a bunch of it and freeze it. I normally save about 30% on my bill just by buying what is on sale.

We just moved out of the Atlanta, Georgia area. When we lived in the Atlanta area, we were paying about $600 / month.

This included:

paper towels,
toilet paper,
diapers for 1 year old,
dog food for small dog,
soap,
cleaning supplies,
feminine hygiene stuff

essentially this column in our budget is called groceries and toiletries.

3% of that would be $18. That would pay for 60% of a night out. It would be worth it, if I didn't have to try to fight for it or spend too much time keeping records or being on the telephone for ever talking to someone.

I spend about $100 a month for just me. 2 to 3% would be nice. However, most discounts and coupons only apply to name brands. I already save more than that by NOT buying name brands.

Probably around $6000 (that is food and household items)... but, our family eats out a LOT, so i'd imagine that a family who cooked more would spend more than that.
