Have to agree with Chris on the GM being an idiot =D
Peca Chose Columbus because out of those 3 teams, Columbus was where he would get the most playing time.
And if it did actually come down to a money factor. Well JFJ should have given him what he wanted because of his impact on their PK unit last year.
And Columbus were more desperate for him because they lost Svitov. And well.. they needed to fill the gap up quickly.
Perrault was pick up, not traded, Antropov can take face-offs too. They might try and help Steen get better at face-offs but i doubt it...

1. Money
2. vs. re-signing you must mean...money
3. The Make Beliefs tried but they are better off w/o the overrated often injured doof.
4. You're wrong about Peca. He was injured pretty much the whole season (as usual) and was not a major component of anything.
5. The other centers will take the draws. No big deal.
6. Sundin will not take all the draws as no one center ever does (and yes, I'm being sarcastic).
7. Lose an "s," Lindros. Stop saying resign. He's not resigning from a job. Why not re-sign him? Why bother is more the question?
8. Peca is an overrated piece of mung who made his reputation by having Hasek bail him out and being allowed to leap in the air to hit guys head high. The guy is so vastly overrated it's ridiculous. Even dopey Team Canada used to pick him....then again Trevor Linden and Russ Courtnall also played in the past for Canada. What can I say?

Well Heres the thing, Out GM is an idiot, and all leafs fans know that.
But Peca was desperate, he wanted to sign before training camp started, and he wanted more then what the rangers were offering and the leafs ran out of cap space, As for the Faceoffs, Mats sundin has second best Face off record on the team, well first now that Perrault is gone, so of course when the penalty kill and powerplay is on he will be takin the draws, and i seriously dont think it has anything to do with damaged goods because JF jr. Said that he wanted peca back and he would do everything in his power to clear cap space (Liar) and i think he was defenently a great leader and when i saw that he got signed i was so upset because i liked him on the leafs so much, but now that Kyle Wellwood is healthy we have another great Penalty kill guy.
Edit- Perrault wasnt traded by the way, he was a free agent and he got signed.

Columbus because they had the money to pay him.
he was originally supposed to go to the Rangers but they seemed uninterested later on.. The leafs didnt have cap room for peca even if he only cost 2 million.
Cause we Leafs fans have a shittY gm in fergie jr
he wasted 5 million on kubina
i have a way it can werk: Kubina -2.5 million exactly what hes worth
Peca: 2.5 million
ohhhh the horror...its possible:p
and perreault was a UFA and he was signed.

The Leafs and Rangers didn't have the cap space. No doubt they were trying to get him mostly with incentives.
As a season-ticket-holder for the Blue Jackets, I was elated just to here Svitov was leaving. THAT GUY WAS AWFUL and a liability to our team. They could have put my dachshund out there on skates and got the same result as Svitov. And we could have easily pulled a kid from the minors for a replacement center. Obviously I'm happy that we signed someone like Peca. Here we have someone who might be able to recieve a pass, or win a faceoff. Enjoy Omsk Svitov, be sure to treat yourself to a nice vacation to Kazakhstan when you get the chance!!!

Blue Jackets need a #1 center for Nash and Vyborny and Peca knew that and wanted to go there. He gave the rangers a deadline and they didn't come through so he signed with Columbus

Leafs don't have the cap room to sign Peca. They upped Toskala's salary and Tucker's plus Pony, Andy and Steen all get more this year. So does Carlos. Team needs to leave about 1.5 to 2 mil under the cap for late season add so to sign Peca would mean one of the young guys would have to go.

Columbus signed Peca because they had a hole in their third-line center role with Alexander Svitov going to Russia. The Leafs didn't re-sign because they didn't have any cap space, and they filled Peca's third-line centre role with Mark Bell, a talented player when he stays out of trouble.

According to today's Toronto Sun, Peca signed with Columbus because Toronto didn't have the cap room (despite Toronto being his first choice)

Chris nailed it. Give him some points. Columbus is desparate for the third line center and peca was available. We'll see how he does once that damn puck drops!
