I signed a contract 2 years ago and now because the mortgage industry is getting worst, the company wants me to sign a new contract lowering my base salary, bonus and no transportation expenses. What could happen if I don't sign the new contract? Do I be entitled to received unemployment benefits?

Depends on LOTS of factors, esp your previous contract and what it says about re-negotiating a new contract. Examine the terms carefully before proceeding. If you're not sure, seek advice from an employment atty narby. Accessing unemployment benefits will depend on how much you and employer have paid into them - how long you've worked and so on. See govt website link below to begin your search at the state level.

You think signing the contract is bad, and it is! Receiving unemployment is 100 times worse!

They can't prevent you from receiving unemployment, but they will most likely fire you if you don't sign the new contract.
