There is some kind of bass guitar, that plays an octave lower than a regular bass guitar. * *THINK* it is also twice as long. Does anybody no what I am talkin about? What is it? How can I learn all about it?

Sub-contra or "extended range" bass.

The same effect can be gained with an effects unit.

6 and seven string basses offer the lowest strings available. twice as long would be imposible to play unless your arms are twice as long.

there is an instrument called a stick that offers different string types and tunings

Yes there is, it's called a 5 string bass. All you have to do is tune the top string to the desired key, and tune the rest to match, or do it differently depending on how you want to play.

I think what you're asking is "will it sound deeper if I play these notes on higher frets of the same string.... vs. playing them on different strings lower on the neck...? Your question is hard to understand - but I take the "left to right" bit to mean "up or down the neck". Is that correct ? The answer - IMO the notes will sound "deeper" if you play them closer to the nut vs. closer to the bridge. An "E" played on the second fret of the open "D" string will sound more direct, clear, and "deep" than the same "E" played on the 7th fret of the "A" string. That's because of the overtone series of the various places on the neck. This is way over-simplified, but to my ear the farther up the neck you go, the more harmonics come into play, and that definitely changes the timbre (sound/tone) of the note - more toward "smooth" or "singing" and less "direct" or "deep" to my ears. These are not really musical terms and it's all very subjective - meaning your opinion is as valid as mine - but if I want to play a solid bottom end with more clarity and "drive" - I play in the lower positions whenever possible. Hope that's what you were asking and what you wanted to know. Of course the best judge is your OWN ears. Play where it sounds right to you and evokes the emotion and feel that you're going for. Try it a bunch of different ways. Use your 'heart' and your ears.
