As much chance as a snowball in Hell. They need that particular vote, the convict vote, and the illegal alien vote as people continue to move away from their communist agenda.

Welfare needs changed. I am tired of my tax dollars going to a person that does nothing for this country but reproduce. I would much rather see my tax dollars go to job programs and education. How about this for a system: Two days a week the person attends some kind of job training like learning to use a computer and word processing and for the next three days they do some work for the community like cleaning the court house, picking up trash on the highway, or working in a program similar to internship so that they can practice some of those skills we are teaching them. This would also give them a chance to see that working for a living isn't so bad.

I'm sure some people do take advantage of the system, and these people are simply drains on this system and would benefit from being forced to work. Many others though do not take advantage of the system and it truly helps them. I'm all for tweaking the system to make it better and close a few of the loopholes.. but I also refuse to abandon those who are truly trying in the meantime.
Welfare isn't perfect, but in my opinion, the system we have is a lot better than nothing at all.

3 weeks befor Katrina, I bid on a contract in New Orleans to privatize one of the city systems.
In spite of the high unemployment there, not enough people applied for the job. Lowest hourly wage would have been $11.00 the highest $28.00. Lowest salary wage would have been $36K highest $106K.
Only one in sixty passed a background and or urine test.
I withdrew the bid.
Workfare doesn't work.

You people are frigging pitiful. You complain about people drawing government support and then complain about minimum wage increases that would help a lot of them get off of it. The Democrats want to keep them down? That is laughable. So are you.

Uh, hello, Republicans buy votes and run on bigotry.
"Dem=jew/gay/lib scum" is an old hat lie from armchair bigots.
America is sick of right wing lies like this.
America is restoring its real Moderate Democrat base.
As it should be.
What have Republicans got except wedge issues?

Welfare was reformed in 1996, perhaps that's before you were born. People stay on for only 2 years, for a maximum of 5 years lifetime.
I don't know what you mean by buying votes. Please add details.

I'd applaud them for seeing the bigger picture that rewarding laziness fosters more apathy. I wouldn't vote for them, though.
