depending on how old, or how worn it may be, the only thing that you will want to change in what I'm about to suggest is how much product you use in the sponge.
What you can do is get a bottle of Armor All and instead of spraying it directly onto your dashboard pour it into a clean bow. Dip a new and dry sponge (one with out the scrubby side) into the bowl of Armor All and evenly apply to your dashboard, and any other surface that you wish to treat.
This method can also be used for applying Black Magic and Wet shine tire treatments for a more even application which leads to a better shine.
