Liberials belive the THE PEOPLE own USA . Also that all her natural resources BELONG to the people. And that an access fee in the form of Taxes and Royalities should be collected on each barrel of oil, ounce of gold, pound of copper, or ounce of water, or other resource taken and used by business for profit. This is to protect the VALUE of the people property and see that the resources are used effeciently. Liberals also belive the Bill of Rights is a living document and that to enforce any laws that would restrict the rights of anyone at any time for any reason should be fought and stopped.
Look at what the PEOPLE have done togeather. The highway system, power grids, and city projects.

Conservatives belive in giving business free reign over all the natural resources and that includes LABOR. No taxes and restricted rights for anyone who is not well connected or wealthy. If conservative had their way poor people would not have any saftey net and be living in a state of Ecomonic Slavery.
Remember that real salves were seen as propverty and the owners took care of them with housing, medical, foods and descent living conditions to keep them healthy. It is expensive to own property any type nut Ecominoc Slavery forces wages down and keep the people begging for work and pay just to live. Forces the people to be cut throat about jobs, salaries and even allowing thier rights to be restricted.

The democrats are for the staff and the unions and the little guy, altough at situations they do get balled up in some corruption too.

Both sides love America and both sides see plenty that is wrong with America and in need of fixing. The real difference between us is not in our love of country, but in our assessment of what is really wrong with it.

Take just one example: gay marriage. In that issue, both Liberals and Conservatives see something very wrong with America. Liberals see immorality in a country that claims all men are created equal, yet discriminates against people based on who they love. Conservatives see immorality in a country that would elevate a "perverse lifestyle choice" to the same endorsement and respect as a traditional marriage. Both sides are motivated by a desire to make America better.

To answer your question I have go back in time to the begining: this is a tounge in check answer but has a lot of truth too......

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals
2. Conservatives

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery.

That's how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men or wussies. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years Conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth; the elephant.

Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.

A few modern liberals like Mexican light beer (with lime added), but most prefer a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc, with passion fruit and kiwi aromas which are marked by grassy notes, then rounded out on the mid-palate by peach flavors. Crisp and refreshing, with a hint of chalky minerality on the finish; or Perrier bottled water. They eat raw fish but dislike beef. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.

Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, Ivy League professors, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated-hitter rule because it wasn't fair that the pitcher also has to bat.

Conservatives drink Sam Adams and single malt scotch. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, and generally anyone who works productively.

Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

In 1969 Conservatives believed in balanced budgets, staying out of foreign affairs and worrying about the home front, in fact Nixon won the election because he said he would get us out of Vietnam, a FDR-type democratic nation building effort. They believed in small government and freedom of religion.

2000 Era Neo-cons believe in deficit spending, catering to a couple million religious zealots to get elected, because the rest are decided, and big government, and FDR Nation building. Israel did'nt work, Iraq won't.

In a way the modern republican party is the democratic party of the 1960's, They just don't believe in tax and spend. JUST SPEND.

FOX news is abhorrent to true conservatives. It is like people admiring Michael Jackson, sick and twisted. What is really sad is that there is no conservative party left.

The democratic party at least attempts to pay for their efforts, by spending what they tax, and no more. We have'nt had a balanced budget since 2001, When the Fiscally conservative left office. Actions speak louder than words.....
