OMG OMG OMG!!!! I'm 13, and I'm on summer vacation. I'm home alone today, and I'm used to it. I'm in my room, and there's a storm outside. A huge storm. I live in the center of Chicago.
I know for a fact that I turned our security alarm on, and the motion dectectors are on in our basement. I am upstairs in my room and I thought I heard like a door open. But that couldn't be possible because the alarm would go off. A window couldn't break because then the alarm would go off, that that's even louder than if a door opens. Our front gate is also locked. We just moved into this brand new house in February, and we have temporary blinds. I can hear the temporary blinds move with wind. I called my mom and she said she'll come from work and get me. Her work is like 15 minutes away from our house. I'm scared out of my mind. I have my two small dogs in my room, and my door is locked.
I don't hear any footsteps.

What can I do until my mom comes home? This is no joke. Serious answers only!

Not much I can do from here but keep a phone near by just in case. and call somebody every hour so you wont feel so alone. If something does happen the person on the phone can call for help.

Serious concerns would be things like if the window is broken, things are moved around inside, things are missing in the house, you see suspicious people driving slowly by the house, someone keeps calling and hanging up, or someone keeps coming by and knocking on the door. If you're just hearing things and are scared from being alone and the storm, I would call a friend and have them come over to keep you company. If you ever think there is a serious problem, don't hesitate to call the cops, but don't call them just because you're hearing wind sounds.

CALL 911 and get off the computer until the police show up.

Now to the real issue.

WFT... to poster number 1... SUKIWA or whaterver. I hate when people write edit because they have to be number 1. Secondly I really hate it when you write edit and you type something that has been typed by about 30 people below you.

I thought yours would at least be something interesting. I figured you didnt have time to answer, because you were in your superwoman invisible plane on your way to chicago to save the young lady.

But thats all we got? Either you type very very very very slow. Or that was a waste of my time. Too bad I can only give you 1 thumbs down.

(edit) while I think of other things to write but it will be more profound then the first poster.

I always imagine someone has broken into my house but no one ever does (NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING!)
Just calm down, and stay in your room.. I'm sure everythings fine.. you probably just think you heard it open. Make sure the phone is close to you and keep the door locked until your mom calls to tell you she's outside waiting for you.
I'm sure you'll be fine, don't worry.. I always think that someone's in the house as well it's just noises you imagine when you're a bit scared.

So keep the door locked and stay in your room, keep the phone close to you at all times and wait for your mom to call you to let you know everything's okay, don't worry i'm sure everything will be fine

It's a typical tactic by police to get a statement from a suspect. Don't worry about the boy's statement about your husband giving people pills. Find out what method of entry the boy used to get inside your home so that you can install the preventive measure. The boy seem to know where you keep the cash. It's not very smart to keep the money in the same place the boy knew. Buy and install a safe.

Honey, relax. It is probably just your mind playing tricks on you. It happens to me all the time when I am in the house alone, I also have motion dectors on my alarm and I still get freaked out. If you really think someone is there, hide in your closet under a pile of clothes & call 911.

just need to relax , turn some of your favorite music on

you know you set the alarms so thats good , you know the door cant open without setting off alarm so that means no one opened the doors , and they cant get in a window without alarm sounding

so no worries

listen to your music and your mom will be there shortly

You can answer questions and steer your mind away from trouble. Stay calm, keep reminding yourself she'll be there in a few minutes. You'll be fine. If you have a phone in your room I suggest calling the cops.
