No one has ever been able to adequately explain this to me. Anything above 60°F gets uncomfortable to me and anything beyond 80 becomes increasingly painful, yet I've heard people say they "like" it that way. Is it the same reason some people are into masochism or is it literally a pleasant sensation to them? I've never understood.

You hear it all the time people are saying that summer is here and they act like its this big grand exciting thing and every time I ask how is it exciting to be so sweaty and gross feeling all the time and the only way to escape it is to have a ridiculously high electric bill. No I take winter any day I can put on a jacket or something and be perfectly OK but what are you going to do in the summer even if you take something off you aren't any cooler. I especially hate those commercials you see/hear where they get all excited about summer being here and I think don't remind me. I agree with you people must be not be aware of how much they don't like it when it is hot they all complain about it too. Maybe it is because they are told to like it and that it is great.

I enjoy hot sun, it soothes me. Of course I don't stay in it long enough to burn, but the sensation of the sun on my skin is extemely pleasurable. On the other hand, overly hot water is unpleasant to me, direct contact with heat hurts my skin.
Many seem to differ, I know lots of people who love a really hot shower, or bath, yet they hate to be out in the sun, to sweat.
It's a sensory thing, nothing weird about it at all I suspect.
Masochism is a whole different ballpark, those folks find pleasure in pain.

Some of it has to do with it. You're getting way too deep for these psych students, you're talking about the "pleasure-pain" principle and what one feels as pleasure may be pain to someone else. If you go really deep into this you can get into major trouble (serial killer, for example).

In your case, you sound fine. The heat isn't great, but if you have to deal with it, then you deal with it.

I'm not too sure I grasp your idea of "painful" though - are you really feeling painful or just uncomfortable because of the heat?

Some people enjoy burning themselves. Pain is exciting.
