He was batting about .230 and wasn't hustling and that doesn't work under Jim Leyland.

They traded him because of his off-year. Yes he is good, but the tigers need wins now. Plus last year Craig said he wouldnt play in Detroit. But he signed a one-year deal with Detroit. Plus he was being paid 4,775,000 for that one year where he was batting less than .250.
As for yahoo, the Tigers are very alive in the Pennant race. I think the reason yahoo said he'll finally be in a pennant race is because Monroe didn't play that often because Thames and Maybin took over.
Which brings me to another point why the Tigers traded him. They have Cameron Maybin, Gary Sheffield, Marcus Thames, and C-Mo. All of them who can play left field. Monroe being the worst one this year, so we traded him.
Hey wut'd do ya no...the tigers did trade them to the cubs. Well I hope C-Mo can help them out. He was a great guy and a great player.

Yeah, he wasn't doing that good this season with the Tigers. I think it was for the best, he just needed a new scenary and just a change.
Plus, the Cubs have a weaker division, so they probably have a better chance to make the playoffs.

Craig Monroe? I bet hes just mad he got traded to the Cubs.
I mean comeon, if you were betting money on who would go further in the playoffs, would you really pick the Cubs?
Just to say, the Cubs are four gmes over .500 while the Tigers are 9.

I dislike the Tigers but they made the right move by getting rid of him. They have a bunch of similar players, specifically Maybin, who are younger, having more productive years and have a cheaper salary. They were lucky to get something in return for him as he would have been available by the end of the week for anybody to claim once he was released.

Craig just isn't doing it....... Maybin had a lot ot do with that and I don't blame them. I just wonder why the Cubs would get a liability like him now this late in the season

Hmm... it all depends if you make the world series... haha j/k. Trust me, if there is one think I know about Monroe, (which is only based on what I see on Detroit vs. Minnesota) he'll be a big impact for the Cubs in a good way, but big enough to dominate the series? I wouldn't say so.

Monroe was awful this year and it was a great move. Infante shouldn't have gone with him; he was a good backup short and second baseman. Thames and Sheff need to alternate being left fielder and DH because they both have incredible hitting power. Monroe could still show up to Spring Training next year, so he might not be gone for good.

He's a 30-year-old with a career OBP of barely .300, which I think qualifies him as being well below average. He's got some nice pop in his bat, but he doesn't get nearly enough homers to make up for his inability to get on base any other time.
I think people get blinded by his occasional power. If you actually look at his performance numbers-wise, there's no way you can argue that he's a valuable player.
