Who has greater influence on elections - people or the corporations/elites? Do people's voices matter over the lobbying of corporations and financial elite?

If no, then face it...elections are just to make you believe that you choose your government.

Are you ready to admit it...?

Um hey if you dont vote all you do is worsen the democratic process. And look, the only people who you ever see are people who are at the top and in the media. If you tried to get your voice out, and millions of people started listening, then you would be on top, and someone else would be saying you are an elite. It isn't that only elites are in the media, it's that once you get in the media, you are givin the title of an "elite"

And no, once Ron Paul becomes president America will be what it was intended to be.

Hey Troy read a history book this country started out as a confederacy, then republic, then the south states got pissed off at lincoln, created a confederacy, the union took back control, ended slavery, and now we are back to a republic.

Actually, it is an phantasm considering the fact that the offerings are confined. The two celebration procedure is rigged to prefer simplest the ones two events in some way that makes festival not possible (see latest NJ gubernatorial election wherein Chris Daggett, the third celebration candidate, used to be marginalized at the poll). As a influence you have got an unending cycle of incompetence. The cycle is going thusly - the celebration in energy screws up, the opposite celebration will get elected, the newly elected celebration screws up, inflicting the opposite celebration to be elected, and on and on. There is little need for both aspect to be ready, considering the fact that they realize that in the end, they are going to be again to energy. The persons feel they're in a democracy considering the fact that they pass to the polls and vote, however simply, they're simply vote casting within the identical historical hacks again and again - it is simply that the hacks could have distinctive names every so often.

I have known for a long time that the selections are fixed, thats why I choose not to play the game. 2000 and 2004 only served to justify and reinforce my preconcieived ideas, which in hindsight, turned out not to be so preconceived after all. That being said, I not only think that democracy is an illusion, but all other forms of human government are an illusion too. None of them have worked, by their very own ideals that were set out, all forms of human government have betrayed themselves.

Actually this country started out as a "republic" not a democracy. And yes I admit that elections are a joke. All these "candidates" will lie to the people and tell them what we all want to hear and then do whatever they want to when they get elected. They have raped our bill of rights and left us with nothing. They no longer listen to "we the people" they only listen to themselves.

Nope.
Actually, the Unions give millions & millions to the Democrat Party each Election.

The AFL/CIO takes our Union Dues and gives them to the Democrats.
We Rank & File have no freedom to say anything about it.
