strep test part 2?

i had asked earlier about my strep results and one girl said that she had it and all they did was hook penicillin into her iv......i know im not helping by stressing so much but IF i have it and i need antibiotics....can they use something other than penicillin becuase im allergic to it lol they know im allergic to it, but please tell me there is an alternative!

ok...i had this same problem with my last question.....i am not referring to the strep you get in your throat, i am talking about a completely different strand and place in the body. If you have been pregnant before or are a dr..you know what i mean.

I'm allergic to penecillin, they used a different antibiotic for me.

I went back and read your last ? about the test. If you are positive the dr will tell you at ther next apt. Its not a big deal, group B strep is found in appx 30% of the adult population, and its not your fault if you have it!! But you have to use antibiotics during delivery to surpress it so you don't pass it to the baby, sicne it can be deadly to infants. Regardless of the results of the test you will be fine, and have a safe delivery!!! Good luck

I'm sure if you are allergic to penicillin and they know about it there is something else they can use for you. There not going to use something that you are allergic to.

I'm not sure that there is, however let me reassure you i have had 4 kids and only 1 recieved the intravenous antibiotics, so fingers crossed! All of them were ok!

.if you have strep they most likely will put you on a general antibiotic such as amoxicillin. if this doesn't work they will put on the "z pack" which is more intense...it's zithromax. I usually goes away after this. But if it comes back continuously they will probably take the tonsils.
