I am planning on taking a greyhound bus to either California or Toronto in 2 days with only my clothes and around 600$ to start a new life. Whats my survival rate ? Either I do this or kill myself, and I really wanna live. Are there government places in cali san francisco area that can help me find a job and settle? It would probably be even harder in Toronto since I don't even have a permit to work in canada. Please give me your advice guys =(

If you are going to California, prepare for it being far more conservative than you ever imagined. The country is headed for a recession, money is tight, and there are a lot of people ahead of you in line for assistance. If you are going to Toronto, prepare for the fact that Fall is coming and Winter is not far behind. I don't have any idea where you live now but your best option is to stay close to your support system, get into college and start building a career and a life for yourself.

One other thing you need to be aware of. America is currently locking up more people than China, and California and Texas are at the head of that line as well. California has a three strikes law as well. When you are broke and hungry, it's really easy to do the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Don't go there.

While I admire your boldness, come on, why don't you find a job first thru sites like monster.com, go for an interview back and forth, use the time to explore the place and then move there permanently.
These are expensive cities...californian and toronto. You are not going to survive with only $600 if you don't find a job within a few weeks.

And are you a Canadian citizen? you have to get a permanent resident card before living in Canada. That takes anywhere between 12-18 months.

Gee ! You aren't giving yourself much time to figure all of this out !
Well if I were going to just 'pick up and go ' like that I think I'd choose my own country -Canada isn't feeling to generous with Americans in need these days.
California is expensive. Do you have any work experience ?Do you know anyone ?
Please don't take all that money in cash get some travelers checks and identification, don't let anyone see it keep some here and some there .
Do you need someone to talk to ?? e-mail I'm not as scary as I look. LOL
