My wife delivered our son on June 7th, 2007. She thinks she's had two light periods since then, and started taking birth control pills this past Monday. Are we good to go now without having to worry about another pregnancy?

I would use a back up method for at least a month as to give the pill time to properly get into her system..
Oh and congrats on the baby

I wonder if she had cerazete, I ask cause I know it is indicated for breastfeeing women.
If she is taking any minipill pop, it is very likely she bleeds less or may be nothing. No I don´t think she´s preg.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
There are very few side effects with the minipill, but it is fairly common to have spot bleeding between periods, and periods may be further apart or closer together than usual. If the minipill fails there is a slight risk that the pregnancy may be ectopic (that the pregnancy grows outside the uterus eg in the Fallopian tube). This is very rare but it is dangerous. If you think you may be pregnant, see a doctor or family planning centre straight away.
PERIODS AND THE MINIPILL
While you are taking the minipill your periods may be regular, or they may be irregular or stop altogether. Many women have spot bleeding between periods. It is not possible to make periods regular, or to delay or cut out periods while using the minipill.
Good luck! ;D

She should check with her gynecologist. If she's nursing the baby, she probably can't get pregnant while lactating, and if not, it usually takes about six weeks to get the reproductive system back to normal. In any event, she should ask her doctor to make sure. Chances are, if she was given a script for birth control pills, it's probably safe to resume your normal sex life without the possibility of another pregnancy.

If its the mini pill like Melaine yu are safe as its effective after 7 days, but other high dose pills take one cycle and have more side-effects.I am sure there is a leaflet with the medicine.Just read that to confirm.I am glad yu care about her well-being so much. All the best to both of yu!

is she breastfeeding? if she is taking the mini pill it only stays in your system for 24 hours, so if she doesnt take it at exactly the same time each day you better double up on your contraceptive!!! good lukc and congrats on your new addition!

nope you still need a condom it takes at least one full cycle of the pills for the hormones to build up enough to be effective
