Many standing in the convention center orthe superdome had gold teeth in thier mouth, they had Jordan's on their feet, thick gold chains around their necks and other expensive clothes.

Now there is nothing wrong with having fine things, but if they could afford all those items, why were they considered 'poor' and 'underprivileged'?

How could they afford all of that expensive stuff.

This is not a racist question. I just would like someone to explain to me how they could afford that stuff but were still considered 'low income.'

Because you don't report income from stealing or dealing drugs.

Call me old fashioned but a grill, gold or platinum does not look good in or on anybodies mouth. The next thing you know these young folks will be wearing light up fin tails on their rear too. :)

Great question. The reported income is what classifies you in an income bracket. My guess is that the expensive items that you are questioning where not purchased with legally earned income, or they are fakes bought at flee markets and street side vendors.

Afford, 99% of those folks were the criminal scum of NO, the city would have been better off the feds would have dropped a few bunker busters on them, instead they shipped most to Texas and now the Houston crime rates are sky high.

If your teeth are gold or your necklace is, then that doesn't mean you have income.

Low income has nothing to do with the flood or Katrina, but it may have something to do with the timeliness of the Federal Government's response to the emergency

Did you expect Katrina to blow out their gold teeth? Or do you expect people who have gold teeth to pawn them after they lose their jobs?

Isn't really enough gold in a gold tooth, to live on. Would you buy a gold tooth from a pawn shop? How much would you pay?
