Together Moe & Roger own 3/5 + 1/8 = 29/40.

Subtract the 29/40 from One (the total of "it") and you get 11/40. That's how much Frank owns: 11/40.

On the asssumoption that Frank owns the remainder then you deduct the portions owned by Moe and Roger. First you have to convert them to a common deniominator so

This would be 40 (5 x 8)
So Moe owns 24/40ths (3 x 8)
and Roger owns 5/40 (1 x 8)
Together they have 24/40 + 5/40 = 29/40
40/40 (One whole) - 29/40 leaves 11/40
So Frank owns 11/40ths
