i don't really follow the american league because i'm a New York Mets fan, but i would have to say the red sox. the yankees are doing very well, but they have a lot of ground to cover from all those times they had those slumps. the red sox are just better in that they're in first place. of course, you can't forget the wild card, so the yankees do have a chance. i would love it if the mets and yankees play in the playoffs. that would be totally awesome. =]

Now that the Triple-A section of the schedule is over, the Yankees will no longer be able to beat up on Kansas City but have to tangle with first division teams like the Angels and their pitching problems will be exposed.

And the Red Sox already have a lead. Go Sox! I hate the Yankees.

Well, almost everyone counted them out at the mid-way point (The Yankees) but here they are again in a playoff hunt. I think I'm going to pick the Red Sox, cause even know the Yankees are behind, I would still consider the Sox the underdogs.

Hoping it will be the Red Sox.

But the Yankees do have that annoying habit of winning about 8 games in a row every now and then, so it's still anyone's division.

But, the Yankees have more holes in their team now then they have had in past years, and the Sox are more solid all around than before, so I'm still fairly confident that we can take the division.
If we could score more than 1 run against the Devil Rays of course... ;)

Red Sox will win this division...I am not counting the Yankees out, they will keep it close till the end, but I don't think they have the pitching to win the division...they may win the Wild Card but pitching becomes very important in September and October and the Yankees are mainly offense.

As much as I want to say the Yankees it's just too soon to tell, the upcoming series will tell you for sure what is going to happen. If the Yankees can sweep Boston at home they will DEFINITELY catch them. They will get into their heads and Boston WILL implode. Keep in mind that the Yankees will be sending Pettite, Clemens and Wang to the mound against Boston at home.

The Jays truly are not that undesirable. the subject is that, as you suggested, they are in baseball's toughest branch. The Yankees are baseball enjoying robots and the Rays have a large warm streak going good now, so they're going to ought to discover some thank you to overcome the two an thrilling youthful group and the "default" international sequence winners.

although i'd like that yanks to win i think the sox will do it. but the Yankees have a tendency to be clutch so they could get lucky but i dont think the pitching could hold out. i do think the yanks will definitely win the wild card.

End of June the Yankees were 14 1/2 games out. Now theyre 5 games back and closing in on the Wildcard as well. Never count the Bombers out.
