Will the fertility doctor prescribe me Clomid or some other fertility drug without seeing my husband first (I have PCOS)? He's a little nervous and does not want to go to the doctor if he doesn't have to, but he will if it comes down to it.

Personally, I'd like him to go, but I just thought I'd ask.

If he really really doesn't want to go and you're okay with that, then he doesn't have to go. The doctor may request a semen sample from him, but they can send you home with a request for the lab and a cup and he can take care of that later. It might be different with a specialist thought, I've been going to a regular OBGYN. He told me he would refer me to a specialist if we were unsuccessful after nine rounds of Clomid.

My OBGYN has yet to meet my husabnd. I am on the third day of my fifth round of Clomid, after being diagnosed with PCOS back in March 2007. He did request a semen sample from my husabnd, but he just took care of it at home and then brought it immediately into the lab for testing. I don't expect to have him accompany me to a visit until we've finally conceived.

If you want him to go....tell him that he should really be there just in case. Better safe than sorry is what I would say to him.

Good luck!!

If your doctor has discovered that you do not ovulate because of the pcos then they will put you on clomid to help you ovulate, but if you do ovulate then your dh will need to have a semen analysis just to rule him out As the cause of you not getting pg, but that is totally up to your doctor. I have pcos and i do not ovulate so I have to take clomid, this will be our 5th month ttc but my 4th time on clomid therapy. My dh had to have a semen analysis and count but that was because I had to have my tubes untied and they had to test him to make sure he will be able to get me pg after I had my surgery. each persons medical reasons for clomid therapy is different from the next. I hope this helps. I am right there with and for you.

I have PCOS, and my first son was conceived with the help of clomid. My regular OBGYN prescribed it for me. He now says that metformin will also help. Check in with your OBGYN and let them know you are wanting to conceive. Have your husband also get a sperm count done to be sure he has what he needs to get the job done. LOTS OF LUCK AND BABY DUST!!!

to get the best results you should both go. Yes, PCOS can cause infertility, but men have issues too. If you are only treating half the problem then you will be wasting your time.
