Limewire uses a big chunk of RAM. It will slowdown most PCs with small RAM and sharing with integrated graphics. It doesn't slow down PCs with 1Gb or more in XP.

I also will suggest ares. I seem to have no problems when it is downloading, however when i am searching for something and leave the search feature going then it will slow down other processes. Thats easily solved by turning off the search when you are finished looking.

download a program called bit spirit. then download your torrents from isohunt.com and your good to go. it is very userfirendly, and very descriptive on what you have and what is left to download. If you understand the whole torrent thing, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about! Anyways, that is what i use!
