I am not in pain whatosever, just finding really hard to breathe.
Does it mean anything ? (labour approaching?), shall I worry?
They last for about 3-4 minutes and come every 5 minutes.

Could it be the real thing even thought I am experiencing any pains at all?

That's quite normal. It's your uterus toning up, getting ready for the big day. When it's the real thing, they *will* hurt, and you'll probably have some other symptoms, such as a "show", or maybe loose bowels, or even the waters breaking.

If you're worried, call your midwife or hospital and get checked over.

Per my obgyn, even painless contractions can be the start of preterm labor, or labor when the have one of the following characteristics:
4 or more an hour
Coming at regular intervals
Last for more than 30-60 seconds.
Changing position or walking doesn't make them go away.

And I remember when I went into labor with my daughter, the inital contractions didn't really hurt, they were just a tightening around and made it hard to breath...of course, 5 hours later, that changed..

Call your doctor and let them know, and if they continue, go to the ER.

Good luck! 36 weeks isn't too early, so maybe you'll have a little one here soon!

If it has lasted this long and at such regular intervals, then it sonds like it could be labour rather than Braxton Hicks. If they get any closer together I would get yourself off to hospital. Phone the labour ward or your midwife for advice now though just in case. They will talk through the pain with you and advise what to do. Good luck.

braxton hicks practice contractions can be really painful and feel as though they are the real thing but time your contractions over an hour if they become stronger longer and closer together then you might be in labour have you have a show(mucus plug comes away from the cervix)or have your waters broken. If not then try not to panic as its probably just a false alarm. If you are still concerned the phone your midwife who can put your mind at rest or send you in for monitoring

Hiya

i don't think that you would get Braxton Hicks contractions that last this long, the fact that its not all that painful might just mean you are in early labour. I would speak to the doc or the mid-wife just to be on the safe side.
Good luck!

Not sure but I had the same thing happen to me today. I came up the stairs carrying stuff up then laid on the floor and my stomach was real tight and hard. At first I thought it was the baby up against me but I think it was a Braxton Hicks because it felt like a tight fist. It was weird :/ So it may have something to do with it.

Those are not normal contractions. Normal contractions (when it is time) will last between 30-90 seconds apart. You will have back pain as well as pain in your belly. If you are worried and cannot shake the worry, go to the hospital or call your OB. They'll probably reassure much more than anyone could on Yahoo! Answers. Good luck and happy baby!

it is possibly start of labour when my daughter went into labour she thought she was having braxton hicks every 10 mins then 5 mins by time she got to hospital she was 5 cm dilated. labour is not necessarily painful maybe u should ring midwife for advice. good luck.

I thought Braxton Hicks were supposed to be about 30 seconds long. Are you sure it's not real contractions? since they are coming at regular intervals?
