You know, that is an interesting question.
Panties...I know we have two legs, but we also have two arms and two breasts...but still every garment worn on the top half is singular, but this is a question that I can not answer.

Socks - well there are two of them.
Before they invented elastic and zips, nether garments came in two parts to make visits to the privy easier, so it was a pair of trousers, a pair of drawers etc.

Pants and socks cover two legs and two feet, so there are two of them. A shirt, vest ect. covers one thing, so it's singular. However, a bra covers two things, so I suppose it should be plural...

Its to do with pairing and whether limbs and body parts are considered individuals as in legs and arms or a pair (as in tit*)

Haha never thought of that lol but most of those things are associated around he legs which we have 2 of so to e able to adjust around them we have to pluralise.

pant= to breathe like a dog
tight= not loose
top= child's toy
