You can suck on a popsicle- that might numb your throat a bit. Gargling with salt water can help flush out the infection. Candies, and losenges help as well. I wouldn't recommend anything like Nyquil. But do call your doctor. They might be able to help you more.

Your best and safest option is to talk to your OB about what medications are safe for you to take. I won't reccomend any meds to you because I am not a doctor. However, I can reccomend some non-medicine things to try to ease the discomfort of a sore throat.
Try gargling some salt water. If you're like me and that totally doesn't appeal, just gargle with some Listerine. I like the vanilla one because it doesn't taste quite as gross as the original. That or try the citrus one.
Boil some water and add lemon juice and honey to taste. This is basically a hot toddy without the alcohol. The honey is very soothing to your throat. Or if you prefer, a nice cup of caffeine free tea with honey instead of sugar.
Hot chicken noodle soup is always a classic "get better" food and the heat will soothe your sore throat. Orange juice for the vitamin C will also give your immune system a boost.
Rest when you feel like you need to, but don't lay around in bed all day or you'll just continue to be tired. Try to get outside for a little bit just to get some fresh air and sunshine.
I know its rough, but you have to stay strong. You'll be fine. Best of luck to you!

You are 18. You most likely qualify for state Medicaid, SCHIP kids health insurance, and WIC. These programs are FREE. Just put down you have no job. Don't put down you are covered under parents insurance, they may need to drop you. Call a friend to get a ride to the hospital ER for further evaluation. All have OB/GYN's on call or on-staff to see you. From there, you can discuss with the hospital social services department on programs available to you. Even if you are not prego, there is something that needs checked. I encourage you to go to the ER, people w/o insurance or ability to pay do it all the time even with a paper cut. You need to take care of yourself. Since you are 18, you can get yourself medical care. You do not 'need' your parents permission to go to the ER. Just go.

I would gargle with hot salt water. Also, call your doctor. There are some antibiotics that are safe when you are pregnant. Your OB always wants to know if you have a fever, too.

Throat losenges WITHOUT zinc should be ok..
I took Halls the few times I got sick while pregnant and I was fine.
If you're that sick, that you have a fever, you should really talk to your doctor..

You should always check with the doctor before taking any over-the-counter items for sore throats or the like.
Try hot tea with lemon, maybe.
Good luck, God bless...

Hard candy might work well.
Have you called your doctor ? If not, you should just to let your doctor know what's going on.
