because they are more famous for dykes.

on the same subject, why aren't portugese called ports, and canadians not called cans? the poor swedish named after a vegetable! and thankfully the germans are not called germs. Who decides these abbreviations anyway?

Poles is a short form for polish, whereas calling Holland ''Holes'' would sound a little odd and rude!

The loophole here is, Holland is also referred to as the Netherlands.

Holland should be called Holls.

Because it is called the Netherlands so they are Dutch
