That a lot of people in the U.S. are willing to tuck their tail between their legs and scurry out of Iraq. Does just giving up on somthing we have spent so much on, and letting terrorists take the victory sit fine with them. It doesnt matter If you believe "Bush Lied" (not even going to get into why thats a load of crap) We gave our word that we would rebuild Iraq, and I hope we see that through.

Many people talk about how the world has lost respect for the U.S. Do you really believe that quitting, surendering, whatever you want to call it, will build back that respect. Nobody respects a quiter.

How about when we leave and the Iraqi's start slaughtering each other? Just somthing your willing to accecpt?

I wonder if anyone will listen to any positive reports that come back saying the surge is working.

Many have given up without knowing just how close they have come to success.

Yes it bothers me...I was raised to believe a man was only as good as his word...we as a country gave our word...I do not take that lightly.

Do you understand the concept of "pounding sand down a rat hole"? In your estimation, how long should we keep repeating the same failing mistakes and expecting different results? Listen to the troops that are currently telling it like it really is...that Iraqis are much worse off than they were when we first became involved in this mess. Sure, we're building schools...the ones they had before they were blown up...but they still don't have sewers or electricity, like they used to have. So, now Iraqis can vote...that has really helped so much! They are killing each other AND our troops...the militia is in disguise...sometimes as a "friend". I don't care what people think about "quitters"...I care about our troops and do not want them to remain in such danger just so Bush doesn't look bad. It's too late, Bush looks bad!

Edit: Iraqis are already slaughtering each other. Also, nice one, David!

Let me see if I understand. You start to dig a hole looking for a treasure and, when you're up to the neck inside, you find out that you're digging in the wrong place. However, you keep digging because you have spent so much effort on it that you'd look like a quitter if you don't. Moreover, people look at you with disrespect because they all knew that you were digging the wrong hole and you expect them to respect you more if you dig up your hole to the very end.

"You" (whoever "you" is) gave your word to the world but the world said (and says) loud and clear that your word is not wanted and that your reconstruction of Iraq is not wanted. Besides, "you" (whoever "you" is) are not reconstructing squat, you are leveling it.

I don't know is somebody respects a quitter, I can tell you that nobody respects a warmonger. The US army is the only army in the whole world that has invaded other countries in the last half century (not counting border disputes obviously).

The only real reason I see to invade Iraq was that it was ruled by a nasty despotic tyrant. But I'll be nice and accept that Iraq had a huge cache of WMD and hosted violent gangs of armed thugs ready to create havoc and mayhem overseas.
Applying that same rule, the next mission for the US army should be to invade the USA.

If I felt that the war in Iraq were justified and necessary- in short, a worthwhile endeavor- I'd be inclined to agree with you about the importance of not "quiting" [sic]. Unfortunately, I don't see how anyone other than Bush and Cheney's cronies in the petroleum and defense industries stand to gain anything from this disastrous quagmire. We're essentially refereeing a civil war with absolutely no end in sight, and none of the reasons for being there have been vindicated, NONE. (To wit: WMD, grave and gathering threat, links between Iraq and 9/11...) "Staying the course" is not going to improve our image abroad either. Why don't you enlist if you feel so strongly in favor of this war by the way?

Victory in Iraq says you. Fine please define victory in Iraq for us. How do we know we have won? There was no real strategy to get into it, during the war, now it is a civil war, and we have no exit plan. We can't define when we know we have won. We were told years ago that the mission was accomplished yet we are still there. We were told that Al Qaeda was in its last throes yet they are stronger than ever because we are there.

Frankly I don't give a damn about Iraq. We kicked out Saddam and they have a democratically elected government. If they are not able to handle things and they have a civil war that is their problem. You might like to know that people of that region have been settling their differences their way for over 3000 years and for us to think we can waltz in there and make them like us we are being very naive.

The opera is over. The fat lady has warbled her last aria. It is time to head for the exit.

What is this ''We'' you have a friend in your pocket? nobody asked me to go to Iraq...If they did maybe we wouldnt be there still today...the point is we are so far in the mix now to back out would be cowardless...however maybe we should try it with our troops...bring them home and liason from the states to Iraq and just give them the 2 billion a day in the form of oil repayment and let them try to hash is out since they say the want us gone anyways....of course the CIA will still be out and about but why not try it and see what happens? cant be any worse then it is now....I hate the idea of going in there but it cant be changed so we HAVE to deal with our mistakes at our own damn expense....maybe people should of stood up to the government BEFORE we went there but nobody gived a dammm untill its after the fact....its kinda like speaking before you think....

It should bother you much more than Bush was all too eager to commit troops in a unilateral action against a nation that posed no threat to us. Worse, there was never enough planning to adequately support the troops nor maintain simple law and order after the Invasion.

I respect people that used to do wrong but quit

same as people around the globe would see that NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE AGGRESSIVE and favor PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKES, just these idiots in charge

If you right a wrong it is much better than making excuses and continuing in the error

Terrorists are taking the victory by us throwing our troops at their pawns in Iraq, while the real terrorists bark out orders from another country.
Do you even know what purpose the terrorists have?
hmm lets see
-disrupt American society DONE
-Destroy the symbol of American economic strength, the WTC DONE
-cause problems within the US economy by raising the price of oil and fuel DONE
-cause the American government to spend itself into huge debt BEING DONE

being able to have their pawns launch a RPG into a group of our troops is just a bonus for them, by our troops being there.
The only way to chop down a tree is to cut it at the trunk, not keep knocking off its leaves.
