Your marriage license won't have your new name on it...it just shows you got married!
To change your name on the other things, just call the places who issued those ID's, and they can send you the forms. (Call the bank, the social security administration in the phone book, etc.) DOn't forget to change on your credit cards, library card, movie rental place, those kinds of things too. It's as simple as filling out a little card and just writing your new name. You may need to show them a copy of your marriage license so get some copies made.

FIrst calm down, take a deep breath. Your marriage license is suppose to only show your madien name but it has your husband's name on it also. All you need is your marriage license. FInd out where the closes Social Security office is. then print and fill out the papers from the site listed at the bottom here and take to the SS office. Take your marriage license to the local Drivers License place to have your license changed, do the same for the bank. Military should be the same. You new husband might have to get some things for you to get you Military ID and get you onto the Tri-Care insurance.
Here are web site to help with the Social Security issue:

As soon as you get a CERTIFIED copy of your marriage certificate (you turn your license in after you're married to the Registrar), then you go to the Social Security Office first then the DMV. At the same time you take your certificate (with your husband) to PSD and get his Active Duty Page 2 changed to reflect the fact that you have gotten married. THEN you go to the ID detachment and get your ID made there. Once you get your military ID (and the Page 2) taken care of, you contact your local military treatment facility which will have info on how to contact DEERS, and get THAT updated.
After you have your SS card changed (which takes about 10 days) and a secondary picture ID (military ID or drivers license), you get everything else changed (i.e., bank accounts, credit cards, loans, etc).
Since you're a military dependent, you have a right to use the Financial Assistance services of your local base (branch doesn't matter). They can help you to make sure you've changed everything you need to change and how to go about it.
BTW, it is not necessary to have your married name...you can carry your maiden name if you wanted to.

Go to Social Security Office and pick up form to apply for name change on social security card. Take your marriage license just in case they need to look at it. You should get the card in about 3 weeks. Then go to get new Driver's license. Once you have new d.l. you can get your bank account changed and military ID changed. It's gonna take some time to do so expect the delay. You are working with the government after all.

First you call your social security office and find out what paperwork you need to file to get your name changed. I don't know if there's a time limit on how long you have after you get married to change your name without going to court - being that your legal marriage was a year ago, the time may have run out, you will have to find out. After changing it on your social security card, you apply for the name change at the DMV, and get a new ID card, I imagine at this time you also get your new military ID. Then you change everything else - bank accounts, credit cards, etc.
Another option would be to keep your original name, if you don't want the hassle. Won't make you any less married.

Your license should have your maiden name on it. That was the name you had when you married him. All you need to do is go down to the court house where you live, bring your marrage license and ask for a name change form. You fill it out and they send you a new SSC with your married name on it, then you can take both of those to get everything else changed. As for your military ID and Tri-care, he needs to be with you to get your new card and he has to handle Tri-Care. Being a military spouse myself, I thought it was pretty easy.

Your marriage license isn't supposed to have your married name on it. It's assumed that, if you're changing your name, you'll be changing it to your husband's last name, which is also on the marriage license. Take your marriage license to your local social security office, along with your birth certificate, your old social security card, and the application form from this website - http://www.ssa.gov/online/ss-5.html, and you'll get a new social security card in the mail. Take that card to the Driver's License center along with your marriage license, and after you fill out a form there, you can get a new license. Anything else you need to change can be changed with your new social security card, your marriage license, your driver's license, or some combination of the three.

Your marriage license is supposed to have your maiden name and your husband's name on it. That shows who married who, when and where.
Take the marriage license and your driver's license to your Social Security office and apply for a new Social Security card with your new name on it. Go as early in the morning as you can because they are always so crowded and also check to see if they have a separate area for you to take care of this, away from the crowd of others there for other reasons. We sat in the wrong area at first, only to discover there was another section for us to go to and it went much faster over there.
Then go to DMV and apply for a new driver's license with your new name on it.
I married 4 years ago and moved from OH to TX and my husband took me to all the places I needed to go since I didn't have a clue where anything was. We went to do my driver's license first only to find out we had to do the SS card first before they would issue a new driver's license. DMV then told me to bring the SS card and the marriage license and my old driver's license to them and they would issue a new one.
Since I banked at my credit union back home, we went there the Monday after the wedding to get his name on all the paperwork because they had to have the marriage license in order to make those changes. They made a copy for my file, then had him sign signature cards and we applied for new checks with both our names on it along with our new address. We then left Tuesday morning with a truckload of my stuff and headed for TX where we live for now (thinking about moving to TN so I'll have to do some of this all over again).
And don't forget to change your plates over if you need to. That was yet another "experience" here in TX because the cost was horrible and the lines were very long. It cost almost $200 to get TX tags !!! OH would have been much cheaper to do transfers but he didn't want to live up there in all the ice and snow (and I have disabilities so actually wanted to get away from there, too).
That's all I can think of right now. Hope that helps.
Congratulations !!! Hope and pray you have a happy life together :)

Your marriage license should also have your husbands name on it. Trust me bring the document to any of the places you ened to change your name. They know what to do with it. you can check online because every state is different in what they need. Get your drivers license and social sec. card changed first some place require that you do that first.

Congrats on the recent wedding, May God bless you both with many years of happiness together. And thank your husband for his service to our country.... As for the name change, you will need the original certificate, also you will need to go too the social security office in your area to change you ss card, but will also need the original certificate.. you might also want to get many copies of your marriage license since your hubby is in the military, you will be surprised how many times it will be required, and your hubby will need an original copy of the marriage license in order to get you a military ID card, your hubby will also need a original of the certificate in order to get you signed up for Tricare. Just info for your FYI Best of Luck if you have any questions that are not answered here please call the court house and they will be more than capable of answering all of your questions, and as for the base, your hubby should show you ever thing and introduce you to the FRG leader before he leaves... Best of Luck and God Bless you both
