Well, it sounds more like you want to be a vet tech.

Vet techs earn less, but they generally get on the job training or go to school for only two years. They do just about everything in a vet's office BESIDE surgery, and even then they will assist sometimes. Everything a human nurse does, vet techs have to know how to do for animals.

A vet has to go through years of medical school just like a doctor does. They have to be very smart and very highly trained. They have to deal with every gross thing that happens in the hospital. They make a LOT more than a vet tech, however.

Stated simply a VET/TECH works under a VET. You might say kind of like the VET.'s nurse, or the VET.'s assistant like P.A.'s (Physicians Assistants) work under Doctors.
The VET. will own the clinic or be partners in it. for the most part and if you are a VET/TECH you work for him or her.

To be a VET thorough you are going to have to have a lot more schooling than just being a VET/TECH.

Veterinary Schools pretty closely parallel medical schools.

Had a VET tell me one time he should have gone to Medical school because he had to take the same courses and do all the things Medical students did. Only difference was his patients couldn't tell him what was wrong with them. And Medical doctors made a lot more money.

If that's what you want to do then I say be a vet tech. as for me, i've always had a desire to do surgery on animals, so I will be a vet. Vet techs do the simple stuff that real vets may not have time for.
