A few other places not mentioned: The Mesa Verde cliff
dwellings on the way to Verde Valley, north of Black Canyon
City. And there's Jerome, known for it's old mining town and
is still populated. The streets zig and zag up the mountain
that was mined in the old days. There is an old army post
manned during the time of the indian wars with Geronimo, at
Camp Verde. In the town of Verde Valley. Lots of things on
display for the public to see inside thru windows, and the
headquarters building you can walk inside.
There's also the old but still active army post near Sierra
Vista, SE of Tombstone. Home of the buffalo soldiers at one
time. They have a new museum I've read.
You can also tour Ft Apache up north near the White Mountains and home of the White Mountain Apaches. You
can get a permit to drive onto the reservation and see the
old buildings that were in use as an Indian school about a
decade ago. They have made alot of improvements to
attract tourists I've read.
You could even try your hand at gold panning, in the various streams to be found within the state as well. Just get
yourself a gold pan and set to work, and take a picnic along
for a pleasant afternoon.

The whole state or north, central, southern? And how long is your trip. And what are your likes / dislikes? There is so much to see an do here, it's hard to say without knowing your likes.
Northern: The canyon is a must if you have never been there, and there is a new clear sky-walk that is cool. In the same part of the state is the painted desert and monument valley. And while there you can see the meteor crater. And, just below Flagstaff is Sedona / Oak Creek canyon. Sedona's red cliffs and Oak Creek Canyon is beautiful. Nice B&B's along there. Adjacent to Sedona is Cottonwood & Jerome - nice touch of old Arizona towns.
Central: Well, Phoenix is the big city. Has all the night spots, sport arenas, big lakes, lots to do there. If you like to hike, there are a lot of nice trails. The Phoenix Zoo is great. There are several Casinos close to Phoenix on Indian Reservations.
South: Tucson is gorgeous. The weather is great most of the year. Averages 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix. Old Tucson is here - resembling all of the old western movies. Tucson has Mt. Lemmon, at almost 10,000 feet you can drive up into the pines and snow in the winter and at mile post 14, you can stop and see spectacular views of the entire Tucson Valley. Lots of hot air ballooning in the Fall, Winter & Spring here. And from Tucson you are close to all of the southern smaller towns. Tombstone - walk down the original Allen Street where Wyatt Erp walked. Bisbee - See and tour original Copper Mines and stay in turn of the century hotels. And 30 minutes south of Tucson, you're in Mexico - Stop in Nogales, Sonora Mexico and grab some souvenirs .
Bring water & sunscreen.

Planning a trip to Arizona huh? Well, you picked a nice state to visit and there is alot to do. Down by Sky Harbor Airport on Van Buren is the Hall of Flame Firefighting Museum, there is the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Botanical Gardens in Papago Park in North Phoenix. There is the Mesa Southwest Museum (will soon be called "Arizona Natural History Museum"). If you like shopping there is the Metro Center in Phoenix, the Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe and The Fiesta Mall in Mesa. Now if you want to go go Sedona..I would totally recommend the "Pink Jeep Tours"! They will take you to the back country and they actually will drive up some hills and its really wild.
Now as for lodging..I would recommend "Days Inn"!! There is a nice one in Mesa off of Country Club and the 60 (Superstition Freeway). They have nice rooms and they are in a nice safe area. There is another Days Inn in Tempe on Apache Blvd just east of Mill Ave..but that is right near ASU and they are putting the metro rail project through that area and it is a mess trying to get out of the hotel parking lot. Their rooms were nice as well and very quiet. Now if you want something a little more ritzy and stylish..I would stay at the Pointe Resort in Phoenix off of Baseline and the 10 Freeway. If you are coming East on the 10 you will get off on Baseline and go right and you will see the resort on your left hand side.
Well, I hope you have a very nice trip and find lots of fun things to do while you are here. Make sure you pack sunscreen and lots of cool clothes..its still very warm out here right now. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Sedona, very nice, quiet area, very artistic, lots of shops. Went on a jeep tour to Boynton canyon it was very cool. There were other places to take a jeep tour, we just chose that one due to timming. From Sedona we were able to visit the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, most were day trips. The one restaurant in Sedona I really like, though a bit pricey was Dal and Deluca's, it is an Italian place, very romantic setting. Don't remember the name of th Hotel, but do rememberit is just off the highway in from the south.

Depends on where you are coming from. A little more info would help. Sorry man! nothing much to see on the 10 freeway. It's all desert for about 2 hours, then you get to Blythe, and then a few more hours of just desert again. I guess there's a military museum in Palm Desert.

I live there. There is always something to do here... tubing, hiking, hot air ballooning, clubing, we have some nice lakes here and you can rent a boat and chill on the water all day. Boat rentals aren't cheap, though.
