It's certainly a combination between two chemicals (compounds, not elements), but the Law of Conservation of Matter also applies.

Not sure what you want. CaO and Ca(OH)2 are ionic compounds. The balanced equation illustrates conservation of matter. It's not a combination of nor decomposition into the elements. Nor is it a displacement.
