I sprung my finger playing ball. What can I do besides icing (Wrapped in Ice) it to get it to heal? Any suggestions?

Well first of all its a sprained finger and there really isn't anything to do except let it take its course. Try not to use it or it will take longer to heal, take some tylenol or motrin to help with the swelling and relax for a few days.

ice it and rest it , but a word of caution. Alot of individuals think that they a sprung finger and you can have a mallet deformity of it. This is where the finger "drops" at the first joint which is called the DIP jt. This is where the finger gets jammed and the tendon pulls away from the joint at the insertion point of the DIP jt. Treatment for that is what we call a frog leg splint or surgery to reattach the tendon at the jt.

There is not much you can do about a finger sprang. You might find a splint at a pharmacy which could keep you from bumping and causing excess pain. Pretty much just take Motrin (if you can) and your finger will be back to normal soon.
