First of all. Let me tell you about me, so you'll understand where I'm coming from. I am not an animal activist, but I am an animal lover/rescurer. I'm not a vegetarian, but I try to make sure the cows & chickens I eat were "free range" & not kept in cages nor stalls their entire life before being killed. I want them killed swiftly & humanely. Canned hunting & bow hunting is not humane. My father worked on a preserve where he found a deer who ran until it bled to death because of a bow hunter. If you really feel the need to hunt. Shoot it in the head. That way it won't feel pain as it dies.
Dog fighting, rooster fighting & whatever else they're inventing is just WRONG. As I said, I've done animal rescue all my life. I currently have a German Shep mix (with one eye) and 2 pit bulls which were all abused. If men want to fight each other in a ring, they have a choice. Animals don't. I wish I had him in my shed for about an hour.......

Yeah well we all agree that at some point all of have eaten beef, pork etc but in the end, its still is caused by killing or torturing in some way….whether with a gun, torture or whatever. And sometimes in hunting, the animal isn't killed immediately and therefore it has to be put out of its misery right. So, how will that happen.. So, either way, the animal is suffering. The only difference here is we don't wear the dogs coat or hair but if we did would that make it better because that's the difference !!!!! If we ate the dog after killing him would that make it better.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In hunting the kill is not always quick, sadly many hunters are not marksman and so they don't often get a heart shot. So once wounded either while fleeing or while lying on the ground the hunter usually has to finish the deer or whatever off. Sometimes following a blood trail can take hours, until you find the animal collapsed on the ground. Also there are caged hunts where a mountain lion or a tiger or whatever is in a cage 40 feet from the idiot who thinks this is enertainment and payed thousands to do it and then they open the cage, the animal runs and the shooter kills it, all legal and also horrible. "Basically a waste of life ended brutally for enertainment and money..."
In dogfighting the loser is not always killed, people spend alot of money on these dogs to replace one every time it loses.
Also betting on dog races is legal and when the dog loses at that too much they are killed. "Basically a waste of life ended brutally for enertainment and money..."
In horse racing a horse is whipped to run faster, if it gets hurt or can't win it is killed. "Basically a waste of life ended brutally for enertainment and money..."
Also your tone and attempt at walling off any criticism is not helpfull to you.

Dog fighting, hunting, prize fighting, animal racing, dog hog fights
Of these “sports” only one Is illegal. People look at dog fighting as if it were the most despicable even in the history of man kind.. and it very well may rank among them. But is it really any different than any other forms of “entertainment” in our screwed up society?
What makes dog fighting any worse? The main response is that its illegal.. well that’s sort of the point of the discussion now isn’t it? Also I find it odd that predominantly white sports such as hunting and racing animals have been romanticized in the media and society where as dog fighting is just disgusting. People usually say well people love dogs, there mans best friend.. well what ever happened to Bambi! Bambi is adorable! Also plenty of people own fish, but that doesn’t stop them from fishing now does it? This leads me to another argument, that people hunt for food or to level out the population. The people hunting do not need to hunt to eat! Also this is seems like your trying to justify the killings where as I think they are all wrong, instead of buying that expensive riffle and take yo but to Wal-Mart but if ones legal they should all be.
Another common thing to say is that the dogs are tortured starved and beaten. 1st if dog fighting were legal then these things would be regulated. 2nd horses and dogs that race are given dangerous steroids and over worked constantly, and if they don’t live up to the expectations made when they were bred or if they break a leg they are put to sleep.. also knows as killed. In both situations the animals are bred and trained to compete since birth and if they aren’t the best they are killed. In addition none of the animals are choosing to get in the ring or on the track. This is another common statement when mma or other human fighting is brought up.
The bottom line is they are all disgusting. But as long as the breeding training betting and murder of animals can be used for entertainment and turn a profit dog fighting should be legal. By the way I’m not even going to squabble about the fact that it is still legal in states such as Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas, Florida as well as Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, and Oklahoma to fight a dog and a Ferrell pig. They justify it by saying that the pigs are messing up crops and a danger to the children. So rather then shoot them or call animal control.. well just let our dogs kill them and let our children watch. And since the kids are scared well teach them not to be afraid by cutting of their tusk and taping the snouts closed and letting the kids chase them for fun.. legally

I understand your argument and I think you make a good point that dog fighting involves more cruelty and longer suffering than hunting.
But I can also argue that, in dog fighting, at least the animal is given a fair chance to fight for its survival. A deer getting shot through the neck from 100 yards away really doesn't have a chance to defend itself. Being killed with bullets is hardly painless. And if a hunter doesn't eat his kill, it kind of adds insult to injury.
Killing animals for sport is pretty cruel, any way you slice it.

Oh my goodness. NO.
These dogs are forced to fight, force to be in a violent enviroment with human beings that should KNOW better.
They are forced to fight, $$$$ is exchanged, and they kill the dog. "Master and Servant" Roles are greatly reduced here.
This is tragic and man should KNOW better. Sorry sport. No animal should be treated this way. If you don't care for a dog or cat, give it to a shelter or stay away from it.

ok, we all know about the vick situation, but dog fighting has being going on forever....i don't agree with the situation and maybe in some sort of way it can be compared to hunting, but it can definitely be compared to greyhound races....
i mean these dogs run as people watch and place bets on them and after a few good times they are not able to win or god forbid hurt themselves they are put down inhumanly.
i think sometimes we as a society need to pick and choose our battles...if this was an average joe would this be a hot topic? NO! because as we are typing there are dog fights going on right now maybe in your neighborhoods.

There is no comparison.
I personally would never hunt animals but I realize that we have been hunting animal since the beginning of time for our survival and some people hunt as a sport.
Dog fighting is disgusting and is absolutely NO comparison to hunting.
Well said!

Dogfighting is obviously worse, but if a hunter doesn't eat what they kill (and mounts in on a wall, for example)...they aren't that much better.
I am not a fan of either activity.

I see your argument, but what about the hunters who don't eat what they kill. I don't agree with dogfighting, but find the way humans are victimized is much worse than the fate of these dogs.
