To be truly myself, I must tell the truth. It is no good to the asker nor to myself. If I am not truthful then it is harmful and neither individual makes a gain and you have definitely suffered a loss. Your reputation can be compromised if you do not mean what you say . In the long run if you do not mean what you say in little things then it is very likely you will not be taken seriously or believable or trustworthy in something that is more important or necessary.

I tell the truth and can't lie. If someone asks me if they are my best friend and their not, I notice a long silence because I don't want to hurt their feelings, but won't lie either. Lying would probably have a way of turning out for the worst anyway.
How's it going?

I tell the truth. I'm a terrible liar. When I tell someone that I like them, it is because I do. I don't like using the term favorite because it creates jealousy. I do like to give ego boosts though.

There is no point in lieing, and that's what you do when you tell someone what they want to hear instead of the truth. I tell them the truth.

Honesty is the best policy and I wouldn't tell someone something false that could hurt them later...I am a straight forward person and I will tell you how it is...like it or not

It actually depends on the question.
Sometimes I decide to say what I think they want to hear.
Usually I'm straight up and brutally honest.

It all depends on my intentions - but I generally avoid speaking if it'll hurt someone else for whatever reason.

both....but it depends on how serious a situation is, for example: if you are in court you can't lie to the judge. covering up for yourself or for someone else won't really get you in trouble (sometimes)
